Dear friend,
I love this time of year, as the early morning and evening light begins to change to a mellow glow and the air take on a rich woodiness around our cottage. This year the hedgerow harvest of blackberries and wild plums is wonderfully abundant. And with a welcome few days of warmth after a cool summer, even our bees are looking pleased with the last vestige of their collection of ivy pollen.
This is the time of the Equinox, as for the second time in the year the equality of light and shadow reflects a seasonal tipping point. The four cardinal moments of the solstices and equinoxes have been recognized from time immemorial as the turning points of the yearly cycle. But now as the Shift continues to accelerate, we are encountering more and more turning and tipping points, not just as part of an ongoing cycle of events but as the markers for crucial personal and collective choices.
As we can see around us, there are many vested interests who despite the economic, environmental and myriad other wake-up calls are attempting to either continue or return to the unsustainable ways of the past. But the cosmic support for transformative change is gathering momentum and the ever growing numbers of people who are initiating and enacting such change in co-creative ways is accelerating.
Whilst by the time you read this newsletter, I should be home in England, I'm actually writing it in Japan, when for the first time in over 50 years (other than for eleven months in 1993/94) a new government is about to take office - like the Obama administration, elected on a platform of change. In the UK we won't have an election until probably next summer, but again the call for radical change is growing.
But as Gandhi once said, to bring about change we must be the change we wish to achieve. For us to achieve a collective tipping point, I passionately feel that the ‘silent majority' must now speak and act. Whilst many of us in the Mind Body Spirit movement have undertaken our own inner journey of self-discovery and spiritual empowerment, it's now time for us to step up - to show up and come together to fulfill our higher purpose in being here and now by being in active service to the Shift.
Just before I left for Japan, on 09.09.09, a new initiative, WorldShift2012, was launched in London, whose global aim is to do all it can to support the collective breakthrough of a WorldShift by the end of 2012.
I've been speaking in my talks in the US, UK and Japan for some time now to encourage us all to answer the call of our higher purpose in choosing to be here and now at this momentous time in human history.
We can no longer sit on the sidelines and hope that others will co-create a new society. Initiatives such as WorldShift2012 and its many alliance members and many others around the world are calls to positive and co-creative action for transformative change. Martin Luther King once spoke of the urgency of now and I believe these next few years will shape the cosmic destiny of humanity. We each have our unique role to play!
WorldShift2012
On 09.09.09 a global initiative, WorldShift2012, its Declaration and call to action, was launched in London. Sponsored by the Club of Budapest whose members include its founder Ervin Laszlo, the Dalai Lama, Mikhail Gorbachev, Desmond Tutu and many other leaders of world change, its aim is to accelerate a WorldShift in our collective consciousness.
I'm delighted to be both a founder member of Worldshift2012 and at its London launch spoke alongside Ervin Laszlo. Many other pioneers of the Shift joined us, including visionary Barbara Marx Hubbard, David Woolfson (co-initiator of WorldShift2012), Robin Wood (Founder of Renaissance2), Charlie Gay (Founder of H.U.B.), Hiroo and Masami Saionji of the Goi Peace Foundation, Polly Higgins initiator of the Universal Declaration of Planetary Rights , Lawrence Bloom of the UN Environmental Program and representatives of many other transformational organizations from around the world. Activist Rula Lenska read its Declaration, which is as follows:

The Global Situation
There is no doubt that we are now in a state of global emergency. This unprecedented worldwide crisis is a symptom of a much deeper problem - the current state of our consciousness: how we think about ourselves and the world. We have the urgent need and now the opportunity, for a complete rethink; to reconsider our values and priorities, to understand our interconnectedness and to begin a new direction - living in harmony with nature and each other.
The Crisis and the Opportunity
Every person, community and society in the world is already, or soon will be, affected by the crisis, through climate change, economic breakdown, ecosystem collapse, population pressure, food and water shortages, resource depletion, nuclear and other threats. If we continue on our present and unsustainable path, by midcentury the Earth could become largely uninhabitable for human and countless other forms of life. However, total systems collapse could occur much sooner caused by eco-catastrophes or escalating wars triggered by religious, geopolitical or resource conflicts.
These threats are real. The underlying causes of the present global crisis have been building momentum for decades and could soon become irreversible. Estimates of when the point of ‘no return' will be reached have been reduced from the end of the century to mid-century, to the next twenty years, and now to the next five to ten years.
The window of opportunity for pulling out of the current crisis and breaking through to a peaceful and sustainable world may be no more than a few years from now. This timeline coincides with the many forecasts and prophecies that speak of the ending of the current cycle of human life on this planet, and the possible dawning of a new consciousness by the end of the year 2012.
Today forward thinking groups and individuals all over the world are addressing the many oportunities presented at this critical time. Designs for sustainable systems, structures and technologies are being developed and implemented at all levels and in every society. This global awakening is a hopeful sign of the vitality of the human spririt and our ability to respond to the dangers we now face with insight and creativitry.
The Way Forward
The totality of our current efforts does not yet match the scope, scale and urgency of the necessary transformation. But if we collaborate and act with vision, foresight and commitment, we can lay the foundations of a global community that is both peaceful and sustainable. We may then ensure our survival and well-being, as well as that of future generations. While the window of time is still open, our top priority, as global citizens is to accelerate our evolutionary Shift to a planetary consciousness and together, lay the foundations for a peaceful, just and sustainable world.

We accordingly issue this urgent call to all the peoples of the world to deepen our awareness of both the dangers and the opportunities of the global crisis. We declare our firm commitment to work together to bring about a timely and positive WorldShift, for the survival and wellbeing of all the peoples of the world community and the flourishing of all life on Earth.

This is the prepared text of my address to the co-creators present at the launch. Needless to say, for those of you who know me well, when I stood up to speak, I forgot to refer to it. At the launch of WorldShift2012 and on this momentous day of 9.9.9, I'd like to whole-heartedly endorse the message of its Declaration. Not only to sound a wake-up call to the very real state of global emergency that we are in but the hope and opportunity for the emergence of a collective breakthrough.
If we are personally ill, when we have a dis-ease; to heal, we don't just deal with the symptoms, we seek to understand and treat the causes of the dis-ease. The Worldsift2012 Declaration is a clear diagnosis that we have a collective dis-ease. Its symptoms are the economic, social and environmental issues that have brought us all to the threshold of a potential breakdown. But its cause is ultimately our collective underlying world-view. So if we are to heal our collective dis-ease, we need to radically change our view of the world.
The mainstream scientific perspective of the world - that we have collectively adopted - is of a fragmented, meaningless and solely materialistic universe where consciousness is merely the random outcome of evolutionary forces. Such a sterile and limited worldview has dis-membered our collective psyche; it has split our hearts from our minds, created a rift between our inner and outer experiences of reality and separated us from each other, the Earth and the wider Cosmos.
Only by expanding our worldview beyond its current and unsustainable limits, can we transform the potential of a global breakdown, into a collective breakthrough.
Just as we can't understand the nature of the ocean only by looking at the waves on its surface, nor can we understand the nature of the Cosmos just by studying the physical universe. Yet mainstream science currently tries to persuade us that we can fully understand the nature of reality solely by investigating the material world and reducing it to its basic components. That's like trying to analyze a Shakespeare play or a symphony by Mozart only through their letters or notes - it doesn't even describe them, let alone understand or experience them.
If such science were able to comprehensively describe the universe, then it might have reason to be authoritative. But not only are the current theories that describe the minute world of the quantum and the large scale world of relativistic spacetime fundamentally incompatible. But over the last few years, discoveries by astronomers have identified that the universe appears to be comprised of only 4% of the matter and energy we are aware of and can measure and an enormous 96% of so-called dark matter and dark energy the nature of which is as yet completely unknown.
So the mainstream science that tries to convince us that it can explain the ocean of reality can't even explain the froth on top of the waves on its surface!
Physicists hope that CERN's Large Hadron Collider will resolve many of the problems with their current theories. But their search still completely ignores the ‘elephant in the room' - the nature of consciousness, the understanding of which is key to answering the questions of not only how the universe is as it is - but why?
However, at the leading of science and at the frontier of research into consciousness a revolutionary, comprehensive and empowering new vision of the Cosmos and a deeper understanding of the nature of reality itself is emerging.
The emerging vision which reconciles, science with consciousness and universal spiritual wisdom, offers us the opportunity, not only to understand the Cosmos at a more fundamental level but to re-member who we really are. Its discoveries show that we can no longer separate mind from matter, body from soul and ourselves from a reality that is intrinsically integral. In this transformational vision of the nature of integral reality, our existence has meaning and purpose.
Crucially this revolutionary vision of the Cosmos means that we are not only the creation of cosmic mind but the ultimate co-creators of our realities. And as co-creators, our consciousness - on many different levels of perception - is far more powerful than most of us have previously thought.
Our fragmented and limited worldview has brought us to the edge of a global breakdown. But this radical new vision of reality and of ourselves is emerging at this tipping point in history as individually and collectively our awareness is expanding in an evolutionary leap of collective awareness that is becoming known as the Shift.
Until recently, the prevalence of the mainstream scientific view of the world has meant that our personal and collective experiences of the Shift have had no context to encompass and validate our expanding awareness.
But, when, instead of clinging on to the old paradigm that has brought us to the edge of catastrophe, we are willing to follow the increasingly compelling evidence, as Marcel Proust once said: ‘the real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new lands but in seeing with new eyes.'
As the Shift gathers pace, we are literally waking up - and ever-more able to become more conscious co-creators. The choices we make here and now are crucial to our transforming the tragedy of an impending breakdown into the transcendence of a breakthrough.
If we are willing to take responsibility for our choices and ready to make those choices from love rather than fear, the emerging view of the whole-world shows that we can really transform our personal and collective realities.
But a choice made from love, requires us to re-integrate our hearts and minds. Regardless of our gender, we all embody masculine and feminine attributes whose complementarity and balance are key if we are to fully express the wholeness of life and fulfil our human promise. Yet the feminine aspects of our psyche have been marginalised and denigrated. For us to transform a global emergency into an emergence the return of the feminine is crucial - as the ancient wisdom keepers realised - to re-consecrate the sacred marriage within and between us in all aspects of our lives. The full inclusion of heart-based feminine attributes of caring, compassion, empathy and cooperation within our collective organizations and societies is urgently needed.
As we each ‘show up' to hear and enact the guidance of the universal heart - that connects us at a higher level of awareness - we fulfil our highest purpose in being here and now. For completion of the Shift is up to all of us. And whilst our personal journeys of self-discovery have been progressively empowering us to understand that ‘I Can Do It', we need now to go beyond the Me and become the We that together can do it.
The whole-world invites each and every one of us to show up and answer the call of service in whatever way and to whatever extent each of us can manage.
As Archbishop Tutu has said ‘each of us can do something.' However small your ‘something' may seem to you, remember that ‘if you think you're too small to make a difference share a sleeping bag with a mosquito!' And for those of you who have a dream that seems too enormous to achieve, remember and trust that ‘no one is given a dream without having everything they need within themselves to accomplish it.
The Declaration of WorldShift2012 isn't just to acknowledge a global state of emergency, but is a call to action to re-integrate heart, mind and purpose, to re-integrate and fully express the divine feminine in partnership with the divine masculine - within us all. It is a call for us all to follow where the evidence leads to the acknowledgement - and enactment - of a whole-world view. And it offers us all a clarion call, to come together and to dedicate ourselves as ever-more conscious co-creators to envisage and manifest the emergence of a global breakthrough.

Soular Astrology
It is the influence of the so-called outer planets that most affects us on a collective level. The two alignments that are especially influential at the moment are the conjunction of Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron in Aquarius and the opposition of Saturn in Virgo with Uranus in Pisces. Whilst there are specific moments when such relationships are exact, the slow-moving nature of the outer planets means that the effects tend to last weeks, months or even years.
I mentioned the conjunction of the expansive energy of Jupiter with the transcendental Neptune and the cosmic healer Chiron in my last newsletter as this particular alignment began in late May. As the conjunction lasts until mid December, I'll remind you what I wrote:
Their combined influence will offer us a progressive and increasing view and understanding of a greater reality and the co-creativity of our future visions. And their continuing influence into early 2010 will support our personal and collective manifestation and embodiment of that understanding. We will be able to see ever more clearly what is spiritually universal and nurturing and conversely the beliefs and behaviors that no longer serve our highest purpose and how to heal and release them.
But the opportunity for transcendence supported by this conjunction requires us to acknowledge the truth, however challenging and make decisions on that basis, rather than from outworn and unsupportable illusions.
The opposition of the stern task-master Saturn in altruistic Virgo and the planet of change and uncertainty Uranus in spiritually transformative Pisces energizes humanitarian initiatives with regard to our collective attitudes to wealth. This opposition that began in late 2008 and will continue until late summer 2010 is also the time to continue to push for radical improvements to global financial systems and even more profoundly how we measure economic activity and the well-being of our societies.
There are many voices urging such change, but the vested interests are pushing hard to return to the old and deeply flawed systems that have created havoc and which are fundamentally unsustainable.
You may have heard of the Gross National Happiness index - GNH - that Bhutan has pioneered and where economic activity is only one of a number of ‘pillars' that measure and support national well-being and which is the basis for all Bhutan's strategic planning. In the last couple of weeks, Bhutan representatives were invited to Japan to speak with the incoming prime minister. How wonderful if the second most powerful economy in the world were to adopt such an approach.

It's Time!
Yesterday, I spoke to and led a universal hearted centered attunement for 5000 people in Yokohama, Japan. It was wonderful to feel the love that filled that vast room and the co-creative power of our focused intention for each of us to embody our highest purpose in service to positive transformation. Around the world, people are coming together, knowing consciously and ‘gnowing' intuitively that the short months and years ahead are our greatest - and perhaps last - opportunity to transform the imminent catastrophe of global breakdown to a collective breakthrough with a sustained vision of a sustainable future. Together we can do it!
